Yeah, there's ALWAYS the Rohloff, but no way. I was thinking the Shimano, but I got a response from the EU (where they actually use these things) that the Shimano Nexus 8 is being found to be prone to water invasion leading to cup pitting.
Also, I'm starting to wonder if the internally geared hubs might actually be tough to shift in very cold temps (below zero F). But if I do go with it, someone on BF pointed out the Specialized San Francisco 3 - almost perfect except it's got 26" wheels. It is running 1.5" wide tires though, which is about a 35 to 38 I think, so that wouldn't be TERRIBLE given my conditions.
