I never posted it here, but our family's web site has moved from home cable modem hosting to "real" hosting. It's at www.hauntedfrog.com, photo albums and all.

Today was the first day since the roofing two weekends ago that my wrist didn't hurt at all, all day. I actually didn't notice until just now. Cool.

I tested my bike light over the weekend by fully charging it (with the new smart charger I bought, not the dumb transformer they gave with the battery), and leaving it on until it died. I tested voltage every 10 minutes, and got a textbook-perfect S-curve, with a burn time of 3 hours 20 minutes with both the HID headlight and the rear strobe running. I killed it before it shut down, the HID was still burning down at 7 volts but it got to the 7 volts from 10 in a matter of about 25 seconds, so it was done anyway. This is good; it means I can easily run all week on a charge and only worry about recharging on the weekend. It's nice having a real charger too; using a transformer and charging high current NiMH on 0.15C while guessing on charge level just isn't good for the batteries.

I'm confident enough in the light now that I moved back to a very small LED in the bag as a backup, rather than the larger superspot.

I never followed up on the flaky connection post; turns out we had a bad connection in the cable halfway across the yard, they had to dig it up and patch it. Wonderful things, these RF cable testers; nothing like having a magic wand that points you right to where the cable break is. They dug a 1.5 foot diameter hole centered on the cable break. Cool. And we've been running 100% since (apart from a modem needing reset last week).

The boy child is trying to give me another cold. He shall not prevail! (yeah, right).

I'm still only up to 874 miles for the year. The miles sure seem to be adding up slowly this year. Maybe I'm watching too close. A watched odometer never rolls over, and all that.

Odometer: 3224
