Shovelling phase one
Dec. 19th, 2008 10:42 amOK, the driveway is clear. I should take a picture because it won't be by afternoon.
Took about 80 minutes. Even with I'd guess 12 inches on the ground, I still contend that it would have taken at least as long with a snow blower. For one thing, just getting the blower out, fueling it, getting it started, putting it away, etc, takes 15 minutes. Then there's all the shifting into reverse and backing up a long way, or trying to turn the thing around with no differential. I think the shovel may actually be less work as well.

Date: 2008-12-19 05:55 pm (UTC)I don't know about time, but I do know that I'm a lot less tired than I would have been if I had had to shovel all that snow. I'm also glad I went out and did the first pass at 7:30, because the snowblower was *not* happy with the section of 12" deep stuff that I had missed the first time. It was fine with the 6" stuff. Now I just noticed that it's snowing hard again, so I'll probably do a third pass around 3 pm. Maybe we can get officially over one foot! I think we're currently around 10 inches.
