It's definitely time, so the SPD pedals got switched out for platforms tonight. It's hunting boots on the bike for me until March probably. Too hard to keep my toes warm (OK, not frostbitten) in the regular cycling shoes.

Of course, I think I left the 15mm wrench under the car last week. So the pedals got changed using a crescent wrench. Not too bad though since I put anti-seize compound on the threads since wrecking a crank two years ago changing pedals.

I have platforms on one side of my pedals, but SPD thingies on the other. On the good bike.

I've thought about those, but I don't like having to search for the correct side of the pedal. Especially in the winter with heavy boots on where I can't really feel the pedal; I'd hate to decide I needed a burst of power, stomp hard, then realize that I was on the SPD side and have my boot slip off.

They do seem like a good idea for the summer though; I don't really like having to go in and put on special shoes to buzz over to the corner store. We've got enough bikes in the garage that I can just take someone elses though (I only have one real working bike).
