Jan. 5th, 2005 09:11 amFinally got a ride in today, first time since last Tuesday.
I really needed it. I bruised something around my bottom right rib sledding 2 weekends ago, and it continues to bug me, particularly in that I can't get comfortable to fall asleep. Riding loosens everything up and I don't notice it at all those days (with a sample of 2 days). Also two 50-minute aerobic exercise sessions in a day tend to chase off cold symptoms like nothing else, and I've been run down a bit by that for a few days too (though it was going away on its own).
Got a new bike computer, a Planet Bike Protege 9.0 - I like it. I get all the info I want on one screen without having to switch modes. Also, it doesn't have the cruddy little buttons of the cheapo I'd been using, which are pretty hard to work with gloves on; you just push the whole computer case forward to switch modes. Also it's got a thermometer, which is interesting. The temp dropped from 23 at home to 18 near work. Was surprised to find it at Chelsea bike shop - someone special ordered it, looks like they used it on a ride (80 miles on the odo), then returned it.
Ride time was a bit long at 50 minutes; until I got in to town, the roads were under a couple of inches of wet stuff and there were ruts, so it was a bit slow.
First ride of the new year. Odo at start of year and this ride: 2366
