Night Rider
Aug. 29th, 2006 01:18 pmSchool's back in session here, which means the household gets going earlier in the morning. I had forgotten how much more fun it is to ride at night than in the daylight, assuming proper lighting is used. It's a different experience. I still am not getting on the road until 6:30 so it's not totally dark; I'm looking forward to real dark.
Riding with no noise and no light beyond the splash of the headlight is really different and fun.
I'm also remembering how scary bright my HID light is. It puts out nearly as much light as a single car headlight but is only about 3cm across. I didn't run it all summer, and now that it's on again, I'm again experiencing cars approaching intersections that I won't get to for 20+ seconds stopping and wondering what the heck I am and if they can make it out in front of me. I'm going to aim it down a bit before tomorrow morning. It's an offroad light so it doesn't really have a proper cutoff. I wonder if there's any way to fit a cutoff lens. I don't really want to just put on a cutoff mask, I'd lose a lot of light.
