Grr driving today.
Mar. 1st, 2007 08:31 amTwo days in a week, after 49 weeks of using only my bike to get to work. Oh well, at least the pressure's off now...
Well, nothing for it. Sometimes the circumstances warrant. On Tuesday the power supply in the DVR machine blew, and our house isn't going to go a week without a DVR while waiting for a power supply from Newegg, so I drove and went into Ann Arbor to get one. Luckily there was a nice one on sale/rebate for $30.
The plan for today switched several times. When I went to bed they were promising some very interesting weather that I was quite looking forward to riding in. Ice on the road and freezing rain all morning. Most of the weather this winter has been quite boring, and this looked like fun.
Then about 3AM, my sinuses went into overdrive and I thought "crud, I'm probably still contagious, I should work from home tomorrow." Then about an hour later they just shut down and I was symptom-free again. So then I switched back to riding in; riding seems to be the best way to kill a cold that I have.
Then I woke up and the power was out, so no working from home. So I drove anyway, because if they don't get the power on by noon or so I'll have to head back home and get the generator running. The damn thing is buried in the back of the garage behind all the sheetrock and stuff; it'll probably take me 45 minutes to drag it out and hook it up. If we ever do any more work to the garage, it's getting a permanent bay. Or we just get a permanently mounted unit that runs on natural gas.
I gotta remember to rebuild the engine on the generator this summer too. It's burning oil like crazy, so I'm sure it's got frozen rings or something.
