I took the day off work yesterday, because the saxophone stand had to be found before evening, and I had no idea where it was buried in the media room (which is crammed full of the rest of the basement's stuff while I work on the basement).
Right now my body is telling me that I may be in shape but I'm not used to crawling around on the floor for 10 hours, then getting up every hour at night and checking the efile systems because last night was a corporate extension deadline. I really need to get my ass back on the bike; right now I feel like I have wire in all my joints. I drove today because L needed to go to band at 7AM. In the past I've either driven home and ridden from there, or parked the car and ridden from the high school, but I have been driving this fall due to being a bit short on time for the house work.
I laid the majority of the tile, including the entire sewing room area. Then we moved a good chunk of the sewing room stuff out to that area, giving enough room to move stuff around a bit in there. Of course, the stand was about 2 feet from the door, but under a bunch of stuff.
Still to go; a bit less than 1/2 of the tiles need laying; the closet under the stairs needs framing, the window wells need framing, then those areas need sheetrock. Then all the sheetrock needs finishing. Some existing drywall needs removal and replacment. The plan is to build some cabinetry to store things in the sewing room. Probably about 20 linear feet, floor to ceiling, deep enough and big enough doors and shelves to store decent sized storage bins. We need 3 doors framed and hung, and at some point we may actually get the ceiling up. If I keep at it, I think I may finish by spring.
But in the interim I think I'll do a little cleaning of the house; it's getting unlivable again. I haven't even put clothes away for weeks, and the dishwasher has been the only thing cleaning anything in the kitchen. I think I can stop and do some normal housework now that the technology that was broken during the lightning storm is pretty much settled down. I guess I should probably go get a new garage door opener and put that in tonight; that should only take an hour or two.
