Biggest torrent evar.
Oct. 18th, 2007 04:07 pmAt least, biggest I've ever been in
Today's the release of probably the most-anticipated-ever Linux release, Ubuntu 7.10. There are 7000 nodes in the release torrent. I downloaded the entire CD in 27 minutes. Yee-haw!
I am guessing at most-anticipated. I think it is because Linux is continuing to gain more interest, and Ubuntu is currently the darling of the desktop Linux distros.
I tried the release candidate earlier this week, and I deem it excellent. I'm typing from Windows right now, however. I still have some hardware that just isn't going to be supported (manufacturers don't do Linux) and it'll take me a while to replace all my apps. Also, there are still some things I just can't find reasonable replacements for. Even simply burning a video DVD seems to not be a solved problem, and decent DVD authoring software doesn't exist AFAICT.
