couple of books finished
Jan. 6th, 2008 04:58 pm"We Seven" - a Life Magazine book published in 1962, a fairly detailed recount of the Mercury program by the astronauts. Very interesting, if you're in to this sort of thing. I picked up the original printing for free at a yard sale that was closing up and getting rid of stuff.
To me one of the most interesting things was the absolute certainty that they had in the U.S. continuing on to Mars after they were done with the Moon. Scott Carpenter figured that as the youngest member of the team he had a pretty good shot at being young enough to go to Mars when the time came.
It took me a couple of months to finish this, I just didn't get around to reading it much.
Also, Man-Kzin Wars VII. It's been on the shelf for probably 8 years and I wanted a quick read. I finished it in about 5 days which is pretty quick for me, given that I only read for a max of a couple of hours a day, usually more like 15 minutes. I like a bit of Niven universe stuff now and then, and if there are Kzin, so much the better.
