T has declared that he's fit to ride the bus starting Monday. For next week he still wants to bum a ride on days when he has to carry his trombone in to school (we drop by and leave it in the band room for him to catch up with at band, the last class of the day). That's just on Tues/Thurs though, and he says after next week he thinks he should be OK in general.

All of which means I can finally stop driving to work and get back on the bike. I went almost 7 weeks and only rode two times, one of which was during a pretty crappy snowstorm (hey, it still beats driving).

Over that 7 weeks I've put on 12 pounds, started needing more sleep, and started having very fitful sleep (#3 causes #2 I'm sure), waking up several times a night. Plus I have nowhere near the energy I should have.

I think I've done all the driving I want to do for the next 2 or 3 years, for commuting to work.

I've switched out the platform pedals for the SPDs (which require using cleated cycling shoes, which are too cold below about 15*F), and I just drove the back route and it's ice free now (wasn't yesterday) so the studded tires are coming off. The lights are staying on; at least through April I'll be going in quite early to try to get in a couple of hours of OT and still get home by 3:45 when the kids get home. I usually leave around 4:30, so the lights need to stay on for a while yet. I do need to get used to getting by bed by 9:30 though, I've been staying up "late".

That's the other problem with taking the kids to school; I don't get to work until around 8AM. By then I am usually about 3 hours into my day.
