Zoo trip today
Jul. 14th, 2009 06:32 pmI decided that 5 days on the sands is just too much, what with me not really doing any projects that aren't already in the can and ready to go, so I bumped up the drive from today to tomorrow, and the kids and I went to Binder Park Zoo.
Kate got 2 hours of much-needed highway driving practice in (not that she isn't doing well, just that she hasn't been getting the required hours in - she actually drives fine, well enough in fact that I put some music on to get her used to low level distraction and see how she did.
Binder Park Zoo is great; it's got a reasonable number of interesting animals, and is quite laid back. Almost all of the park is in wooded areas so you're not baking in the sun all the time (though the temp today was great anyway, mid 70s) and the place is built on a reasonable scale, so you aren't walking miles between exhibits. They also seem to have limited themselves to animals that they can provide a reasonable habitat to, and they're working hard at conservation.
The giraffe feeding was a ton of fun.
