Anybody out there know microscopes?
Sep. 5th, 2009 10:10 pmOK, I know telescopes, but not microscopes. Anybody got any opinions on this for basic home noodling around/looking at pond water sort of stuff?

They have another that's basically the same thing without the USB camera for $40 less. I think assuming the camera is any good at all I'd as soon have it.
My microscope when I was a kid was the usual $20 disappointment with a horrible mirror and plastic eyepieces. Still, I had a fair amount of fun with it, even going to the point of doing eyepiece projection photographs with an SLR body and toilet paper tubes. This could be a lot more fun for myself and the rest of the family.
This place has a lot of different microscopes, but I don't think I'm ready to spend a whole lot more than this. If it's junk though, let me know. I'd rather just wait until I decide to get something better.
