Being a Green Mother by Piers Anthony

Despite some people's warnings, I liked this book pretty well, certainly better than some of the other books in this series. It did end abruptly, but honestly, I don't think there was anywhere else to go with the story anyway; by now we know what Gaea does, and there wouldn't be much point in following another incarnation learn her job; it would just be padding at that point. The ending is QUITE a surprise, and I think he did well to just end it there.

I can't believe that I'm praising PA for NOT padding a book. I guess we lucked out that he'd hit his word count just when the story was finishing.

The story was rambling, much like book 2, but this rambling was for a purpose, and tied to the story. I suppose there's some vague connection for the ramblings of Chronos in Hourglass, but it's pretty weak. By comparison, this story was pretty coherent.

In the series, so far I'd put this book as a 7 or 8 - very close to or equal to the Mars incarnation.

thought about the story w/tiny spoiler )
