Robot Adept by Piers Anthony

Yes, it's another Phaze book. Yes, I said they were bad. I really only started it because the last book finished while I was on the road, and I happened to have these on the player. I figured, it's been a while, I'll see how it goes.

Badly. There was not a single moment during the entire book when I gave the slightest damn what happened. Characters? Don't care. World? Don't care. Frame? Universe? Anything? Games? Don't care.

It occurs to me that being Piers Anthony's publisher must be nerve wracking. He sells you a series, it's a real pig in a poke. It seems like there's a really good book in every 3 or 4. In any series, there will be a couple of good ones, some stinkers and some mediocre. I guess you just hope for his die-hard fans to buy enough that the remainders don't kill you.

Mirror Dance by Lois McMaster Bujold

I haven't read any Vorkosigan books for years. I think I only ever read the first couple. This one just happened to be available when I was looking for something new to dump on the reader.

I really need to put more Bujold in my list. This book was very impressive. She's got a somewhat scary imagination for torture and psychological oddities. Those parts were creative and just bad enough.
