Review by an electronics engineer who's never touched an ereader before. FWIW. He promises that he's gonna tear it apart next blog. Towards the end he tries it at extreme temperature ranges, which is interesting.

Wow, the new displays are a LOT faster than my old 505. And the Kindle engineers have certainly done a lot of work on useability. It's all-in-all smoother than the Sony, though to be fair I haven't looked at the newer Sonys, though I don't get the feeling that they've done much work.

For the money, heck, it's not a bad deal if all you ever use it for is a free 3G travel web browser. Personally I'd go ahead and get the 3G just for the occasional travel use.

Now that they have the USB port and you can drag in documents, and Calibre can produce Kindle PRC documents, I think the thing is quite a viable option now. I do wish they'd put an external memory slot in it, but 4G of Flash is decent.

No, I really don't have any intention of picking one up, but it would definitely be on my list if I were in the market for a reader.
