This morning there was a small (4" diameter) dead tree (covered with vines) completely across the road on the way in. I stopped and moved it. A half a mile later, there were at least 4 deer slowly ambling across the road. They didn't seem too concerned by me, so I had to stop and let them cross. A couple of miles later there was a skunk that started across the road, saw me and decided to turn around and wait on the shoulder until I got past. As a car was overtaking me at the time, that probably saved him.

I've seen a lot of wildlife lately. But that could just be due to going in earlier.

The Reality Dysfunction by Peter F. Hamilton

Pretty long, WP sez 1200+ pages. Heck of a story though, and I'm heading right into the next book.

I think there's some kind of right-hook nuttiness in the air these days. After 5 years of commuting with no close calls or trouble at all, I nearly got right hooked(*) THREE TIMES in the last week. In each case I would have hit the car if I hadn't hit the brakes.
