As far as I can tell, credit card companies seem utterly incapable of building email systems that act in a timely fashion.

Chase sends me reminders and alerts of various things - and it takes typically 3 days for me to get an email after an event occurs.

Citi ditto. It looks to me like it's taking them on the order of 5 to 7 days to send reminders after an event occurs.

Discover and PayPal are the only ones to have it together - I get reminders within a few minutes after an event. I used my new PayPal debit card (1% cash back) to pay for a pizza last weekend, and I had an email in my inbox by the time I got home from the joint detailing the charge (I could turn that off if I wanted) and the charge was already visible in my account.

On credit card sites, charges don't typically show up for several days afterwards. I was using the PayPal as a credit card so it was going through the credit card clearinghouses, so no excuse there.
