I accidentally discovered today that the Contour Roam embeds the timestamp as a subtitle track. So it's there and displayable but doesn't overwrite the video visually unless you want it. Pretty neat.

The only problem is that I'm not sure if there's a way for Sony Vegas to import the subtitle track without a lot of goofing around. In the end it's probably not important because if I wanted the timestamp it would be because I was using the video for evidence and I'd have to present the original file anyway which would have the subtitle track in it.

Continuing to play with Sony Vegas. It's clearly one of those programs where there are a thousand features, all very well hidden. Some of the features I was hunting for today you access by grabbing hold of tiny little nearly-hidden grab points in the timeline and drag them around.
