I guess at least one hard drive has real issues. It looks like a simple grown defect. It reported a bad block yesterday, I reset it, and it reported the same block again. Historically I've had good luck long term with running the WD surface scan/repair utility - with WD drives after running that on I think 4 or 5 drives over the years I have not had an instance of the drive coming up with more bad sectors later. So I'm currently running a (4.5 hour) surface scan.

The data is all backed up (easy enough since it's such a new space that almost everything on it was restored from backup anyway, only about 160GB of new stuff since Thursday, mostly re-downloading stuff that I had before).
