Postwar: A History of Europe Since 1945 by Tony Judt

I haven't done much audiobook listening lately. I'm trying to keep up with BBC World News daily podcast, Science Friday and Tested. That eats up a lot of my commute.

Also, the audio book that I started back in, I believe, January, is the one I just finished. This is a book of remarkable depth and breadth. It's ridiculously ambitions and it took a long time to get through. It was 50 x 45 minute tracks. Even at 140% speedup it took a while, and honestly, I just couldn't bring myself to get back into it for a while.

When he says he's going to cover postwar, he means basically everything that happened socially and politically in Europe (and anything that directly affected European politics) east and west plus the USSR from 1945 to 2008. It's a lot of info. If I consciously retain 10% of it in even a vague way I'll be doing well, but I think it's given me an appreciation for a few key things that I didn't have before.

I gave it ★★★★☆
