Real busy day
May. 2nd, 2015 11:10 pmStarted off with a dump run after taking Tom to rehearsal. Then I lit and tended burning a largish brush pile, while removing the old broken garage door. I spent most of the day getting the garage door up, though it wasn't difficult, I just took a few breaks and had to keep going out and spending 20 minutes to an hour at a time poking stuff around on the brush pile to get it to all burn.
Then the door needed more headroom than the old one (longer tracks) and I had to go into town and buy some angle iron to deal with that, and make a couple of pieces to lift the door opener up by about 5 inches. Then the spring didn't have the tag the instructions said it should have saying how many turns to wind it. I looked that up online and the instructions were way wrong. I think they may have referred to insulated doors, not the bare steel one we have, because when I let it go, the door went up halfway under its own power. So I cranked it back down and let about 1.5 turns out. The old door will have to go to cleanup day eventually.
Then I finished off with an overdue cleaning of the fish tank.
But I got to check off all the things on my list before 11PM, woo!
