I am torn between 4 and 5 stars, but this was such a page turner for me that I opted for 5.
It's an interesting premise. The end of the world, and how to try to survive it. Really almost two books. The second half was a bit odd in that on my copy at least the entire thing was basically one chapter. I don't know why, it made it a little odd to read. Anyway it was definitely different. I'm happy that a lot of the books I've read this year are well out of the ordinary while still being in the general SF genre.
I think the social elements of the book, both leading up to the midpoint and recapping the thousands of intermediate years, were interesting and clearly have been thought through quite a lot.
