johnridley: (Bookworm)
Sun of Suns by Karl Schroeder

★★★☆☆

Well. Post-singularity steampunk. Quite a trick, but pulled off pretty well. A satisfyingly page-turning ending, decently developed characters (not great, but good enough). Worth the read but I probably won't be itching to read any more in the series.

I read this due to a recommendation on Hello Internet (which was actually for Audible, but I choose to do print instead). I love what CGP Grey does on YouTube, but I'm definitely getting the feeling that I should steer clear of his media recommendations. I've found them to vary from mediocre to terrible. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, by his own admission he thinks of most media as just noise, and picks audio media strictly on the basis of whether it can keep his monkey brain busy while he does important stuff.
