I think no one could help but be a bit sad at all the missed opportunities in Pip's life, but that's the way life is. Good luck turned bad, bad luck turned good, missed chances, misunderstandings, laboring years under false ideas.
Five stars simply because, like most classics, I feel sure I will be thinking about this story at odd times for years to come, and will almost surely read it again in a few years.
The version I got from the library (on CD) is by Recorded Books, unabridged, narrated by Frank Muller. The reading was quite good, with decent voices used by the narrator for each character.
