Last year was a good one for acorns, and as we also have numerous squirrels, this year we had a lot of small oak trees. I've moved about 12 of them I think plus a few maples, into the acre or so storm drain easement on our property. The first few were very clean transplants and are doing very well. The last few were difficult to get out of the ground clean so they took some root damage and are a little wilty. I'm carrying water to them nightly and they're hanging on.
I still have another half dozen spots for large trees.
I also have some more pink roses that I might start out there. The bush by the deck just keeps pushing up stems from the root no matter how much I hack at it, so I may as well put roses all over the place I guess.
