This week's stuff
Jun. 21st, 2024 06:13 amI've been working on a car for a friend. So far:
"system too lean" - replaced the thermostat, the engine wasn't getting up to temp.
"O2 sensor circuit" and bad signal - found wires broken/eaten by mice. Patched the wires, seems like it's getting a good signal now.
It has a VERY bad surge on brakes - warped rotor or something. I have new rotors and pads but need to confirm it needs them. I had to buy a special socket to get the lug nuts off (aftermarket nuts).
Sway bar link was very loose making a lot of noise. I tightened that up but haven't driven it like that yet. It also may have a shot sway bar bushing or two. That MIGHT be a huge PITA to replace, I don't know yet.
Also going to bleed the brakes and finish checking them.
Southfield has gotten hammered by storms. Friends there have been out of power for more than a day so I grabbed the generator from K in A2 and ran it over to them. Got their fridge and freezers running. Somehow the gas can got removed from my truck, which stinks, now they have to buy one and I have several to spare. Oh well.
I also need to get over to Kalamazoo and do a few things over there. Probably overnight there.
The power washer has been acting weird for a few weeks; after 5 minutes it starts cutting in and out. I messed with it a while, gave up and bought another one, then on the way home thought of something, tried that and it fixed the old one, so the new one got returned unused. What I did was to open up the pressure switch, stretch the spring from 35 to 40mm and re-assemble. It works perfectly again now. So I was able to go over and finish the power washing at the parsonage.
I also kinda volunteered to re-side that house. It needs it badly, the (vinyl) siding is original and > 50 years old. It's super brittle, has many gaps and broken places.
The internet went out last night, I assumed it was Spectrum and went to read and go to bed. Still out this morning, determined the router needed rebooting. I've never had it go out before, that I recall.
