Seems that the front wheel is the wrong wheel -- you have this gyro there, and you go to turn the handlebars, and *nothing happens*, and you hit the tree.

I don't think it's spinning that fast. It can still be turned, and kids at that level aren't leaning significantly. By the time that they are, you'll have the gyro turned down pretty far.

The rear probably would make more sense, but it wouldn't be as easy to implement. They put drive motors for ebikes in the front quite a lot too even though the rear is probably a better place. Also see dynamos in the front.

No need for it to be in a wheel that I can think of, so just make a gyro that bolts to the frame.

Well, aside from the fact that it looks to be kind of a cool toy after you take it off of the bike, and use it independently.

Also, it probably does simplify things that, while bikes vary a fair bit in tube diameters and general frame shape, they all take pretty much the same wheels.
