With a Tangled Skein by Piers Anthony

Not bad. Way better than #2, not as good as #1. I guess I may as well continue on through, these aren't very long. It's still pretty obvious that the book is padded to some number of words that he pre-sold, but it's nowhere near as bad as Hourglass was.

After this I'm going to need something guaranteed good to clear the palette though. I've got Count of Monte Cristo from Librivox downloaded and queued - hope it has a good reader.

Book 4 was nearly as good as book 1. War is a hard thing to make sympathetic, and he managed (mostly). But yeah, I was reading them as they came out and fortunately was reading good stuff in between to clear the palette.

I'll agree with Mary. War was probably the best one prior to for Love of Evil.

I'm about halfway through Wielding a Red Sword, and it's already more story than book 3 was.

I liked For Love Of Evil until about 1/2 way thru... then it went downhill fast, IMO.
