Bicycling Street Smarts
May. 28th, 2010 12:41 pmThis is the most comprehensive, IMO most correct guide to street riding that I've ever seen. I haven't read every word but it looks right, right, right in everything I've been through so far.

Apparently it's a Rodale publication, licensed for the state of Florida to have on their website.

Date: 2010-05-28 07:55 pm (UTC)I agree with the point made that cycling at the speed of the prevailing traffic is safer that going slower, especially with our narrow and overcrowded streets.
This is one of the reasons that I feel far safer on an e-bike in a city with lots of narrow streets and hills. Even with my back problems, I can accelerate at much the same rate as cars, even on hills and especially in the 20mph areas.
Thanks for posting, be useful if I ever rent a bike in the US; my gut feel is that, for me, cycling in the US will be a much harder adjustment than driving was.
