This guy is on day 97 of a 1000+ day bike around the earth. He's doing it "right" too - camping, washing up in streams, charging his lights and computer with a solar panel.

Based on his map, he's planning to cycle over the Himalayas, through Afghanistan, Pakistan and into India, and then back over them again on the eastern side to get from India to China. He's insane.

OK, there are some areas there that I'd probably rather avoid. Personally I'd stay farther north when it came to crossing from Europe into Asia, but the thing is, he'll probably be fine. The Himalayas wouldn't bother me. Afghanistan I think I'd just as soon avoid.

I don't think the mountains are that big of an obstacle, really. However, from reading some other journals, I think he's going to need a different bike when he gets there. The one he's riding now doesn't look like it would be happy on those roads.
