I was going to drive to work today, but they were predicting freezing rain all day today. Between the ice on the road and the prospect of cleaning a ton of ice off the car before coming home, I decided I'd rather ride. Of course, it stayed warm and just rained all day (except for 5 minutes of sleet as I was getting to work. Not that I'm complaining, mind.

Then they called off all evening activities at the schools, because it's getting colder and still raining, so we skipped both scouts and TKD. I'll have to see what it looks like in the morning to decide on mode of transport. I do want to wander over to Meijer and pick up the Harry Potter OotP DVD while it's on sale this week. In the summer I'd just ride because "hey, extra miles, bonus!", but in the winter with the heavy, slow tires on I'm not really looking for more miles.

The bike sure felt like it was full of lead going up the hills today. I think I'll go check the brakes and the tire pressure. I have a new freewheel and chain ready too, I should put those on this weekend.

With the weather getting snowy, maybe you should try one of these:

It is a bolt-on conversion for your bike - to manual snowmobile...

Ktrak's traction-boosting Rear-Drive Kit:, which consists of a composite wheel with a polyurethane track, is the first step in turning your mountain bike into a muscle-powered snowmobile. To complete the transformation, the Ski Kit swaps the front wheel with a single, steerable ski.

BTW, it seems impossible to make a comment on your next post...

Yeah, I've seen those. If my problem was deep snow, that'd be an option. For ice, studs are the answer. Also, studded tires are already draggy enough; that thing must be hell to pedal.

I disabled comments on the next post; I didn't think it really needed comments.
