We departed the city park campground in Hermann early and went to the Sugar and Spice Bakery for breakfast. It was good and there were many friendly locals who made us welcome.
We got back on the trail and wound up at the KT Caboose in Marthasville for lunch.
It's run by a lovely man who has done many thousands of miles of biking and hiking over the years. He says this fall he plans to run the southern tier across the US, 50 miles per day.
As I type we are at the Bunkhouse in Defiance, a nice no frills place with 4 rooms with bunk beds in each room, and a separate shower building next door. It's all nice and clean.
Dinner at the Good News Brewery then bed.
One sad note today is that while changing a flat tire a baby goose came up to us peeping. Dave found what is probably the remains of mom a way up the trail. Unfortunately there's just nothing we can do.
