Snow day!

The kids have a snow day today. That means I get to ride my bike to work. It's kind of unfortunate that I'm only able to ride on the crappiest weather days, but I'll take what I can get.

The gravel roads were really quite horrendous. I had to walk up almost all the hills, and even going downhill was rough due to the snow ruts, and the snow covering up some really bad potholes and ruts in the road itself. No problem at all once I hit pavement, though on Baker I did have to pull off when there were cars coming in both directions, for a total of probably about 4 minutes.

Still, I feel physically better now than I have in several weeks. I only wish I knew the night before that school would be closed so I could leave earlier, like maybe 4AM, or 5 at the latest.

We got an automatic phone call from G's school at 5:15 (some of the kids come from places like Farmington and Allen Park, so they need to know). I had serious mixed emotions about that. :-)

This time of year I really could be putting in some serious overtime, but taking the kids in means I can't get to work until 8AM, and we have things starting at home at 6PM most days, so I need to leave work no later than a bit after 5PM. I'd rather be getting in at 5AM and getting some extra work time.

I looked at the snow line last night before bed--we were just on the edge of any snow. This morning we had about 0.25" of snow. It melted on its own in the morning sun and our drive is now completely dry.

No fair! I wanted to go skiing today!
