Very good commentary on biofuels

In short: biofuels as currently produced are worse than just burning oil, they're being pushed because of politics, and politics is not about solving problems, it's about getting elected. And getting elected president in the US means you have to please Iowa first.

The cynical sniper in me has to say two things:
Politics is about solving problems, it's just that most people don't understand the problem it's solving. (How to get reelected)

The article says "[politics] isn't the appropriate method of dealing with technical problems." While true on the surface, it also happens that there isn't any other possible method here. So, inappropriate, or not, that's what we'll use.

Besides, politics is the art of two, or more, people interacting. Might as well rail against the weak nuclear force.
