Oh, lord

There's a guy at work who's really a sharp guy and is fun to talk with. He's a bit hard to get away from sometimes but I usually don't mind that.

I just went down to ask him a question, and he immediately pulled up a web page ("I gotta show you this!") - it had stainless steel tubes, plexiglas and a lot of blue glowing things, and had the words "hydroxy" and "electrolysis" in it, and a quick glance showed THAT LOOK in his eyes. I know what this means.

I wasn't able to back away quick enough - yes, he's got the "run a car on water" bug, and even blatant sarcasm wasn't able to veer him off the belief that you can get H and O out of H2O at something like 800% efficiency. He's sure there's a good handwavium explanation that circumvents the laws of thermodynamics. Holy crap.

He even started talking about how he had to figure out how to get VC without getting assassinated by the oil companies. Yikes.

He's even got a co-conspirator in another employee down in that building.

I'm staying the HELL away from him for at least 6 months. Honestly, he does stuff like this. He'll probably be alright (by his own standards) eventually.

Run away!

There are few things to be done with a True Believer. You are with them, seriously misguided, or part of the vast consiparcy against them.

Wow, I was just telling a car guy (real car guy, that is) at lunch today about how every few months someone I know hears that-FordGMChrysler-has-developed-a-car-that-runs-on-water-!!!!-but-big-oil-and-the-gov't-is-keeping-it-suppressed.

This guy has actually bought a bunch of stainless steel tubing and electrical parts and plans to try to replicate the results.

Oh, I don't doubt he'll be make a hydrogen car go. Then he'll just have to find a way around that pesky first law of thermodynamics.

"the results" in this case involve efficiencies FAR in excess of 100%. More like 1000%. I'm not sure he can make the car go either. Sure, you can make an engine go, but making a modern car run on hydrogen involves a lot of work; just to start with you'd have to have a new PCM and a lot of control over it, plus a lot of new controls. Either that or use a classic carbureted car.

Oh... Sorry... I didn't realize he was talking about doing it with a regular engine.

Hmm, I wonder how much work would be involved in setting up a similar site which, somewhere along the way, gets someone to fill the cylinders with water, seal them, then try to crank the engine. Call it a "pressure test".

Has he had a go at the other great conspiracy/suppression invention; the 100mpg carburettor? (or should that be 100mpg fuel injector, in these more modern times?)

Looks like you are one of the conspirators, however, so doubtless it'll be *All Your Fault* (tm) when his device fails to satisfy - due to your sabotage (or maybe just not believing hard enough!
