The life-extending drugs in use by the upper class are being tampered with. The crew goes to investigate. Heris discovers that a battle group that says they're there to defend the backwoods planet is in control of traitors. She and crew kill the traitors, take control of the battle group and fend off the invasion. At the end Heris and her crew are taken back in to Fleet, with Heris in charge of her own battle group.
