Honor's in charge of a Q ship fleet (refitted merchant vessels decoying in raiders and blowing them away). This is the beginning of her journey back into the Mantacoran regular navy.
She's put in this position by Klaus Hauphman, who figures it's a suicide mission. She winds up saving his and his daughter's life in the end, so one of her biggest political adversaries is forever indebted to her by the end of the book. Her flagship gets totally scragged in the end and she winds up scuttling it as the few remaining survivors are rescued.
