I remember reading and enjoying the first three books in the series, but can't recall much, if anything, about the plot. And life was busy enough by the time that more books came out that I haven't read any of the newer ones. Should I? (Not that it's an option in the near future, but I was thinking of unloading the books I have, and maybe I should reconsider...)
Interesting, pretty engrossing, probably a quick read for people who have such things (I'm not a quick reader). The plot is Alvin leaves to apprentice to a blacksmith, never makes it, gets kidnapped by Reds in the pay of a corrupt white leader who wants to start a war as an excuse to slaughter Reds. Rescued by Reds, spends the next year travelling with them. Much Red mysticism, etc. It's only the 2nd book in the series, so I don't know what happens afterwards.
I may just give the series a rest then. I've already broken from the series since I picked up Honor Harrington book 10 on the reader. I was doing that series in audiobook, but the audiobook copy I found of #10 (War of Honor) was abridged, and by "abridged" I mean slaughtered. As far as I can tell, they abridged it by throwing the pages in the air and picking up 10% of them, putting them back in order and reading them.
