Grr. So I've got an extra 2GB of RAM coming for my PC. It's DDR-400 RAM, which is kind of old but it's what this machine takes.

A week or so ago, the machine just stopped on bootup and the boot drive thrashed for probably 5 minutes. I power cycled it and it's been working fine since then, but you can bet I did a backup as soon as it booted up.

Last night, the USB ports went all to hell. I had to move things around to find a port that the external hard drives would work in, and I couldn't find any port that my hub would work in. There's nothing wrong with the drives but the ports are dying.

I tried reverting the C: drive to the Ghost backup I made a week ago, thinking maybe one of the 2 or 3 pieces of software I installed caused driver issues. No luck.

If this mainboard is starting to croak, I wish I'd known about it before I bought new RAM for it. Ah well, I suppose I can turn the RAM on eBay if it comes to that. I just hate this screwing with hardware, I have plenty of work to do on the computer to take up my nonexistant free time without screwing with hardware. Though to be fair this is the first time I've had trouble with a machine for years, not counting the drive failure (which could happen to any machine) and the lightning strike last year (ditto). And this isn't fatal or even expensive, it's just irritating.
