I was a little overdressed for this morning's ride, but not too bad. Would have been about perfect if I opened the pit zips on the shell a little.
Somehow some genius in a pickup managed to put himself WAY the heck off the road this morning, and the wrecker and cable were stretched across the road. I could have walked the bike through the ditch but decided I'd enjoy watching the wrecker dude work for 5 minutes more than I'd enjoy a snapping bit of cable tackle hitting me, or some other thing that I could imagine, so I just watched.
This guy must have really been pulling some bonehead moves, because the road was absolutely perfectly plowed, it was covered with packed snow but no ruts or anything. He was probably just doing 50 and had a deer jump in front of him, or maybe he just did something stupid all on his own.

Date: 2008-12-24 03:35 pm (UTC)Having driven just about every kind of vehicle, I have to say that pickups are the WORST in snow and slippery conditions. 2WD ones are, anyway, and that's what this was (at least, I didn't see his front wheels turning when he was trying to back out).
Honestly, that road would have been passable to a 4 year old on a Big Wheel. The guy was just driving stupid. He was completely off the road, a good 15 feet between the edge of the road and his truck.
