Year end total, and rambling on (and on)
Dec. 30th, 2005 04:03 pmI've commuted my last commute for 2005.
The odometer total for the year is 1760 miles.
The total for 2004 was 2366 miles. The difference can easily be explained by the combination of me just giving up for the latter half of last winter, plus taking about 4 extra weeks off in August, which is normally prime bike weather.
So that puts 4126 miles on this bike.
I managed to break a helmet strap clasp last week, and that helmet is >4 years old anyway. Some experts claim helmets should be replaced every 3 years, so I ordered another. Nashbar is closing out 2005 Bell Citi commuter helmets, with visor, for $25, which is almost half off, so I'll give them a try. I may have to cave and order a Bell Metro though. I have what is known on bikeforums as a pumpkinhead (I say fathead). At 61cm, I'm just a touch past the normal top end of most "one size fits all" helmets. The Metro is actually made up to 63cm, but it's $70. Lots to pay for 45 cents worth of styrofoam.
