Record low
Jan. 14th, 2009 03:18 pmOn the ride in this morning it was -4*F. Not nearly the coldest I've ridden in, just the coldest this year so far. Just keeping track.
Clothing: thin socks and then wool socks, high top hunting boots - OK
Thermals underwear, then baggy shorts, then nylon shell - OK.
Poly compression top, then poly sweatshirt and rain jacket shell - belly was very cold even though not really exposed, the rest OK.
Fleece balaclava, prescription goggles, helmet with rain cover and cheap hunting gloves - all fine except the little sliver over skin under the glasses hurt a bit. No danger of frostbite, and for some reason it bothered me even though my nose wasn't really bothered at all.
