The thermometer on my bike computer is supposed to read to -20. This morning it just said "--". I suspect that's it's way of saying "you gotta be kidding."

The thermometer on the house read -15.9 when I left.

It actually was a totally fine ride; I was a bit cold in the fingers and nose for the first mile, but once the blood got pumping that was fine too. I do need to do something about my face mask though. Probably a neoprene nose/mouth cover. If I pull up what I have now to cover my mouth, I wind up steaming my goggles up almost instantly. The only part that got really cold was my face right next to my nose; on the left side it's a bit puffy and feels a bit warm, but I do have feeling there so if there was frostbite it was pretty mild.

Looks like motorcycling sites have plenty of selection, I'll get something like this coming:

Not the skull version?

I'd think a ski shop would have such too.

Yeah, I saw some of the skull versions. I think I'd scare myself. It's bad enough walking around or into stores with face masks on, I think I'll pass.

Sure, then you'll be shot for looking like a terrorist or other violent crook.

Or for being a cyclist, of course.

You are a brave person...

... I think you had it right the first time, -- means stay inside.

It is possible that it was below -20 there. Willow Run was -17 this morning.

There is a precursor called frost nip that sounds like what you describe.
