Well, the weekend went pretty well. I spent the winter basically letting the clutter entirely take over the place. I did a lot of just cleaning and sweeping. We're making decent progress on throwing stuff out or giving it away, and I cleaned out the first area where the first set of shelves in the new storage area will go, and started to clear off that shelf to move it. It's 2x8 feet, 4 shelves, 3/4" plywood and 2x4 frame, so it has a lot of stuff on it that needs to be offloaded. Then I need to move it, which will involve sinking tapcon screws into the concrete wall, which is always amusing.
I also thought up a vague plan for a second pond/grotto/waterfall area which will probably take about 2 years of decent regular effort to pull off, so that isn't going to happen for a while.
The garage got a little cleaner. This is strictly a relative term. The lumber is piled outside now and will probably be rained on today. I see this as a good incentive to get the stuff used ASAP before it's wrecked.
I took the lumber out of the trailer so that I could go and get a load of compost from the transfer station. While there I noticed that they're selling compost for $15 for TWO yards now (used to be for one), and screened topsoil for $15 a yard, wood chips for $10 a yard. I think I may get a bunch of landscape work done this year; the main reason I never have is that we need topsoil to do much, and it's either a really long drive with the trailer heavily loaded, or paying a dump truck a big fee to dump a huge amount of dirt that will take me 2 years to use up.
So anyway, I'm looking forward to finally getting some of those rough spots in the yard leveled, and some new areas worked on.
