Trebuchet started
Jun. 23rd, 2007 09:23 pmWe had a power failure which lasted until about 2:30 today, but after that I finally got started on building the trebuchet for berzerker. I got the two sides done before dark. It shouldn't be any problem getting the rest of the frame together and the throwing arm built tomorrow. The weight box and the axle might not get done until later.
I'm going to make the base of the weight box have slats and cover it with a sheet of metal which can be pulled from one side, allowing the contents to just drain out. That should make it trivial to empty when it's time to pack up and go home. Otherwise I'm thinking it'll be a pain in the butt to get 800 pounds of sand out of the box; too heavy to tip, really awkward to try to get in there to shovel it out.
