Yellow explosions
Aug. 21st, 2007 01:36 pmI was getting quite amused on the ride home yesterday. It was raining a bit, just enough that the birds were hunkered down.
There are a couple of spots on my commute where some dense brush comes right up near the road, and apparently goldfinches like to hide out in such places.
Three separate times on the way home, I had 6 to 10 goldfinches burst from the brush in the ditch and fly off in front of me (and away from me), all initially heading the same way but diverging and separating while heading out and up. It was very pretty. It actually happens every few days, but yesterday was the first time I'd seen it more than once per day, and they were all the more colorful on a rainy day.
