Richard Wolfram, "Einstein's Relativity and the Quantum Revolution"
About 12 hours. I should have bailed, it was very elementary. I was hoping he'd get a little deeper but it didn't happen.

I think next TTC will probably be one of the astronomy courses; there's one that covers how objects in the universe (novas, black holes, galaxies, etc) come about. If done at a deep enough level, it should be good. I really should get into some of the philosophical stuff too; there's a ton there. Maybe some greek or later philosophy, or maybe some historical stuff; I haven't looked at the titles very closely.

[edited to change TLC (The Learning Channel) to TTC (The Teaching Company). had a brain misfire I guess]

On the way home from Scouts on Tuesday, my low oil pressure light came on (on the Taurus).

Bad news

No leak. The oil actually wasn't down. I just am not used to looking at a dipstick within 10 miles of when I changed the oil, in the dark.

So, sludged-up pickup, or bad pump. Either way, several hundred bucks since the engine needs to be at least lifted up a few inches. The good news is, I can just drive it to the dealer since the pressure is OK when the oil is cold.

I guess if I knew it was a sludged up pickup, I'd try some detergent trick like running with a quart of tranny fluid for 30 miles or so then changing the oil, and repeat. I've never done that with this car and it's at 125K, so there probably is a bit of sludge built up.

Oh well, even if it's $500, I've never paid a dime on service for this car, so I'm still well ahead, and the car is certainly worth that and more. Also if they drop the pan they'll replace the gasket, and that should fix the oil drips that I've been having for the last 60K.
