WD 1.5 terabyte "green" hard drives are $99 at Newegg today (on their daily deal). Even better, buy one with a USB SATA docking station for $120 (the docking station is normally $40 by itself). So we're down to 6.6 cents per gigabyte; DVD blanks are 6.9 cents per gigabyte.

I remember when hard drives got down to $1 per MEGABYTE. And it wasn't too long ago that a terabyte was more space than we could imagine putting on one computer.

There were so many people trying to get a shot today at work that they're setting up another day to do the rest of the people. The line was over an hour.

Storm from the Shadows by David Weber

A story parallel to/interleaved with the Honor Harrington series.

This was actually a lot more interesting than some of the HH books. Decent plot developments, not too much droning on about how military hardware works. Sure, there's some of that but not as much as some other books. And if you can't stand coverage of planning meetings, you may as well stay away from the whole series.

And there's plenty of the requisite smug, overconfident idiots getting their asses ripped off and handed to them. Wouldn't be a Weber book without that.

All in all, I hope any upcoming books are similar; it's a definite improvement from a few books back.

Oh yeah, I should mention; the narrator, Jay Snyder? Horrible. Atrocious. Overacting that would make Shatner blush. Honestly, he read every line like the guy who voices over action movie trailers. If you ever have a choice, get the recording that he DOESN'T do.
