Verified by Visa
Oct. 23rd, 2009 12:44 pmSo, I guess it's not possible to buy from Newegg anymore using a Visa card without getting the Verified by Visa page. I don't want to sign up for that, it's an idiotically-implemented system, so I just cancel out every time. And every time, later that day, Chase fraud prevention calls me up, asks about the charge, and tries to convince me to sign up for it.
Today I asked if I am going to get a call from fraud prevention every time I use a VbV merchant and don't complete their signup - she said yes. I said "OK, I guess I can start using my Discover card then." She said "OK, THANK you" and hung up fast.
I'd be tempted to go ahead and use it anyway, because I'm sure it costs them more than they make on a $100 transaction to call me every time, just to be a pain in their butts, but since they call at home first, and J has to redirect them to me, that's not fair to her, so I guess I'll either use the Visa card via Paypal (which doesn't use VbV) or use the Discover card.
